The speaker is Arianna Traviglia, who coordinates the Centre for Cultural Heritage Technology at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. The published scope is specific: using AI on satellite imagery to find buried archaeological sites and traces of illegal digging, automatic transcription of historical manuscripts, reading inscriptions on ancient surfaces, pulling condition data about heritage out of large datasets, and the role of robots and physical AI in documenting and monitoring sites.
