WomenHack brings women in tech face-to-face with employers hiring across engineering, product, data and design at a curated speed-networking evening in central Bristol. Free for candidates, the format runs rapid one-on-one rounds with up to 15 inclusive employers — no booths, no job boards — followed by mutual matching afterwards. Part of a global series running in 120+ cities, it's a strong fixture for anyone in Bristol's tech community exploring their next role or building an inclusive team. Bristol AI Ethics runs a monthly evening of talks and open discussion on the ethical use - and misuse - of artificial intelligence, hosted at Torchbox in central Bristol. The July session opens with networking from 6pm and a rapid monthly AI-ethics news roundup, followed by the main talk from Dan Charles, who builds AI systems for a living: 'In a World of Habitual Change, What Shouldn't We Leave Behind?' It examines what we lose when we offload cognitive and knowledge work to AI, drawing on the cognitive-science evidence (the generation effect, the 'jagged frontier') and Shannon Vallor's work on moral deskilling, and closes on a practical Keep / Give / Share framework. A Q&A, drinks and a 'Positive Actions' segment round out the evening. Free to attend, drinks and snacks provided, and welcoming to newcomers - no technical background required.

Bristol Tech Social's weekly afterwork mixer brings together the city's tech community for relaxed networking over drinks at Hort's Townhouse on Broad Street. It's an open, come-as-you-are social for anyone working in or around tech - software developers and engineers, data scientists and analysts, cybersecurity professionals, product managers, startup employees, tech entrepreneurs, career-changers and students breaking into the industry. There's no formal programme: just a friendly space to expand your network, swap ideas, hear about job opportunities and referrals, and stay current on what's happening in AI, data, IT and software across Bristol. Tickets are a nominal GBP 3 online (no door sales); RSVP also unlocks the organiser's Discord and WhatsApp communities. Runs every Friday from 6pm.
