Bristol AI Ethics - July 2026

Bristol AI Ethics runs a monthly evening of talks and open discussion on the ethical use - and misuse - of artificial intelligence, hosted at Torchbox in central Bristol. The July session opens with networking from 6pm and a rapid monthly AI-ethics news roundup, followed by the main talk from Dan Charles, who builds AI systems for a living: 'In a World of Habitual Change, What Shouldn't We Leave Behind?' It examines what we lose when we offload cognitive and knowledge work to AI, drawing on the cognitive-science evidence (the generation effect, the 'jagged frontier') and Shannon Vallor's work on moral deskilling, and closes on a practical Keep / Give / Share framework. A Q&A, drinks and a 'Positive Actions' segment round out the evening. Free to attend, drinks and snacks provided, and welcoming to newcomers - no technical background required.
